What Is Design Center?

A design center is where new-construction buyers select finishes and upgrades — flooring, cabinets, countertops, fixtures — for their home before it's built.

Example

A base-price home might include standard laminate counters, with design-center upgrades to quartz adding $4,000-$8,000 to the price.

Why It Matters

Design-center upgrades often carry a markup versus buying similar materials outside the builder's program — decide in advance which upgrades matter enough to pay for.
